About Times of Pol

Times of Pol is an independent publication dedicated to covering the international politics, armed conflict, diplomacy and world affairs that shape our era. We report on the forces that move nations — the rivalries between great powers, the wars that displace millions, the negotiations that succeed or fail behind closed doors, and the slow structural changes that redraw the map of the world.

Our guiding conviction is a simple one, borrowed from an old newsroom maxim: journalism is printing what somebody else does not want printed. Everything else, as the saying goes, is public relations. We try to hold to that standard by reporting clearly, explaining honestly, and refusing to flatter any government, faction or ideology.

What we cover

Our coverage is organised around four broad areas. Under World, we follow global affairs, trade, migration and the wider currents of the international system. Under Politics, we examine diplomacy, great-power rivalry and the health of the institutions built to keep the peace. Under Conflict, we report on wars both hot and frozen, on security and on the newer battlefields of cyberspace. And under Analysis, we step back to explain the deeper strategy, economics and history behind the headlines.

Our approach

We believe international affairs are too important to be left obscure. Our aim is to make the complicated comprehensible without making it simplistic — to give readers the context they need to understand not just what is happening, but why it matters and where it might lead. We favour clarity over jargon, evidence over assertion, and analysis over noise.

Times of Pol is free to read, with no paywall. We are supported by advertising, which allows us to keep our reporting open to everyone. We are committed to keeping advertising clearly separated from editorial content, so that what you read is never shaped by who is paying for the space around it.

Independence

We are not aligned with any government, party or interest group. Our loyalty is to our readers and to the facts. When we get something wrong, we correct it. When the evidence points in an uncomfortable direction, we follow it anyway. That independence is the foundation of everything we do, and we guard it carefully.

If you have a question, a tip or a correction, we would like to hear from you. Please visit our contact page to get in touch.
